brittany graham

Beautiful, breathtaking pictures from beaches, sunsets, city skylines, mountain peaks, historic views, exotic animals, zip lining, and so many more wonderful life experiences. As soon as I found Jessica’s Instagram page @TheJessicaJourney and blog thejessicajourney.com, I was instantly inspired and wanted to know more. At first scroll on her Insta’ you will feel nothing but positive vibes from all of her traveling adventures to over 38 countries in less than 21 years of life.

A pivotal part of Dream Live Ball and everything it stands for is not only inspiring other people to live their dreams, but doing so by telling the stories of others. My ultimate vision for DLB is to create a community of positivity driven by individuals that give their own meaning to Dream Live Ball and apply it in various ways in their own lives. With that being said, I would like to welcome you to first of many DLB Spotlights where I will be introducing someone who lives out DLB, sharing their story, and inspiring YOU. Without further ado, meet Jessica.

If you’re looking for someone new to follow that’s filled with joy, inspiration, and a positive spirit, then look no further than Jessica. A 2016 graduate from Cal State—San Marcos (located in San Diego), she’s already focused on and pursuing the things that she loves. Recently quitting her job as a waitress of four years, she now has her own business has a travel agent (can you tell she really loves to travel, lol?). In addition to her travel blog, she also helps with marketing for a local protein bar, designs Greek clothing for her sorority (AXO), manages a few accounts with custom apparel, creates food tutorial videos for an online grocery store, writes about local things to do in San Diego for a cruising company(https://cruiseable.com/profile/jessica-hartmann), and also just started teaching succulent classes. I'd say she's just a little bit busy.

So what’s your excuse?

I admire Jessica so much for doing so many different things, things that she enjoys, is passionate about, and all while having the flexibility to travel all over the world. Take it from her: if you want it, it can happen--if you make it happen--even at the age 21.

Remember, always #DreamLiveBall and let the things you love the most guide you. As you can see from Jessica, happiness and success will sure to follow. What started as an Instagram project for class developed into over 5K followers and a career she loves.

Stay inspired, and be sure to give Jessica a follow on the 'gram and check out her blog.

  2.  Current job?

Ohh this is a tough one. I quit my waitressing job of four years to pursue true passions. I currently have my own business as a travel agent, where I book vacations and arrange travel. Don't tell anyone!), I design Greek clothing for my sorority (AXO) and manage a couple accounts with custom apparel, I create food tutorial videos for an online grocery store, I write about local things to do in San Diego for a cruising company ( https://cruiseable.com/profile/jessica-hartmann ), and most recently, I started teaching succulent classes and designing arrangements. I am all over the place with work but enjoy the flexibility of being able to pack up my bags at a moment’s notice and travel away!

3.  How did you have the courage to start traveling so much? Was it always your goal/plan to do so?

I like to try to plan at least one trip a month if I can, because I get antsy and want to start exploring somewhere new. Recently, I have been doing local weekend trips near my hometown, and that has fulfilled my need to travel! I have always felt the need to want to explore places, and that is how I fell in love with traveling!

4. How did the “Jessica Journey” start?

The Jessica Journey started as a college project actually! I studied a lot of marketing and PR and one day a PR firm came to talk to our class about getting experience in the field. You know the revolving cycle of when you apply for a job, but you don't have experience, so you don't get hired, but you’re not going to get experience until you get hired? Well the advice from this firm was to start a branded Instagram around a concept that you like, keep it consistent, and develop marketing skills so you have skills and experience in the field of PR and marketing. I thought to myself, what do I like? I like to travel, I like succulent plants, and I like my dog. I branded and started an Instagram around each concept and finished them out for the rest of the class. I enjoyed it so much, and continued traveling all the time, I kept with my Instagram (@thejessicajourney). I later bought my website and created my online blog. But to tell you the truth, I like blogging on Instagram better than my website because I am not technically advanced!!

5. What is the biggest lesson your journey/traveling as taught you?

The biggest lesson I have learned while traveling is to get outside of your comfort zone and realizing how different people of the world live, makes me appreciate what I have and how I live.

6. What is your dream job/ultimate goal?

My dream job would be to monetize my blog to be point I would be able to make a living off of it. This is a popular thing bloggers are doing, and I am really working hard to do this also!

7. What motivates you?

The idea of being successful and living a life full of doing what I love is what motivates me the most.

8. What place have you traveled has had the greatest impact on you?

Italy remains my favorite place I have traveled and I feel the most at home there. I am Italian and grew up with Italian traditions that I embrace. I feel a sense of home when I travel to Italy. Florence is specifically my favorite, and the location where I studied abroad in college!

9. You’ve been to 38 countries; do you have a goal for the # you would eventually like to visit? Where are you planning or wanting to go next?

I do not have a number goal, but I would like to see as much as I can of the world we live in. Top destinations on my list include Bali, Thailand, Croatia, Fiji, Maldives, Seychelles, Antarctica, Aruba, Panama Canal, and pretty much anywhere I have the chance to go to!

10. What does success mean to you and how do you measure it?

Success means doing what I love, and loving what I do. I strive for a life where I am able to love each day of work, where I am able to wake up and be excited to start the day. Success with my blog is measured by the growth I have each month, and the feedback from my readers and followers. When I touch the heart of someone and am able to encourage them somehow, I feel successful.

11. Quote you live by?

The quote I live by is, 'everything at this moment is exactly how it is supposed to be'. I second guess things and this quote really helps justify the decisions I have made.

12. Your go to song?

I am a total country music girl, so my go to is anything Luke Bryan, Justin Moore, or Sam Hunt. I try to go to all the local country music concerts and you will notice that if you are following along on snapchat (@thejessicajourn).

13. Countries you’ve visited: America, Canada, Mexico, Italy, Spain, France, Malta, Monaco, Estonia, Norway, Finland, Russia, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Greece, Turkey, Switzerland, Finland, England, Austria, Hungary, Vatican City, Costa Rica, Honduras, Belize, Tahiti-French Polynesian, Bahamas, Turks & Caicos, Bermuda, Antigua, Barbados, Tortola, St. Lucia, Jamaica, Grand Cayman and COUNTING…#GOALS

14. Best piece of advice for the world?

Take all the opportunities that you can. You really do only live once and you will not look back on your life and think, oh I wish I worked more, no, you are going to wish you had more experiences throughout life! For me, this is traveling.

15. After learning what Dream Live Ball means (to me), what does it mean to you to Always #DreamLiveBall?

To me, each of the three words mean something different, but perfectly work and go together in this example. I constantly dream about where I want to go and what I want to be doing. Dreaming is the first step, but to live it, is the next. I analyze my dreams and make to do lists on how to get things done. I am constantly looking for ways to achieve my goals and really make my dreams reality. The 'ball' aspect really falls into the living and following through with your dreams. Always dream big and think of ways to achieve them!

16. What can people expect to see from your blog/IG and The Jessica Journey in the future?

I plan to expand my blog to include more of the day to day things I love. This includes a shopping/fashion section, a succulent diy section, a cooking section, and possibly even some dog mom articles! I plan to blog about some of the past trips I have taken, which is really difficult because I am always traveling and it is hard to catch up! Stay tuned for some great things, and I always look forward to feedback and things my followers would like to read about!
