If you’re anything like me you’re constantly being overlooked in life. Feeling like no matter what you do, how positive you stay or how hard you work, you’re never good enough. I feel like my entire life in certain aspects of my life I just wasn’t good enough, or “just not what we’re looking for.” As it relates to basketball, I was too small, not strong enough, too slow, not versatile...whatever it seemed to be, I wasn't enough! But what about being skilled, a good passer, a damn good three-point shooter, good student, and an even better person? Do those qualities count for anything? Because at the time, I felt like they didn’t matter and I couldn’t do anything right and was never good enough.
When it comes to adulting it then became, you don’t have enough experience, you’re not skilled enough in this area, we’re looking to go in different direction, but we will stay connected and keep in touch in case something comes open in the future. You know that whole thing.
It feels like sometimes no matter how hard you work, or how many times you focus on doing things the right way it still seems as if you don't get what you deserve. It all becomes even harder when you start to seeing the people around you move up, get the promotion, or an awesome new job and you're just stuck because you're always overlooked and under appreciated.
Whenever I start to feel like this instead of feeling bitter or sorry for myself, I use these feelings to drive me even harder to prove the naysayers wrong.
However even still, it should be known that you are living for an audience of One...GOD.
It's easy to get wrapped up into who likes us, getting attention and the approval of our peers. But regardless of whether people notice you or your talents, God never ignores us. He wants us to do our best for Him at all times and he will bless us with what we need when the time is right.
It might feel like you are alone. Like nobody ever notices all of the positive good things you bring to table, how hard you are working, or the sacrifices you are making to succeed. But God does, as He see's it all. "For the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to him" 2 Chronicles 16:9. When times get difficult just remember that the only approval you need is from the One above. Let those against you continue to sleep on you, work hard in silence let success be the noise.
